Welcome to Our Summer Reading Adventure!

Summer is the perfect time to relax, explore new worlds, and keep our reading skills strong. Whether you’re at home, traveling, or spending time with family and friends, great books can go with you anywhere!

On this page, you’ll find everything you need to make reading a fun part of your summer. We’ve included recommended book lists for every grade level. You can access them by selecting the + before your grade level.

Remember—just a little reading every day helps build confidence, imagination, and a lifelong love of learning. Let’s make this summer one filled with wonderful stories and new discoveries!

First Grade List

Make a bingo on your board by reading books by the authors below. If a series is preferred, it is in parenthesis. Bingos can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. Bring your board to school during the first week of school to get a prize. Challenge: Cover ALL the squares!

Second Grade List

Students should choose several of the books below to read during the summer. We encourage you to sign your child up for the Summer Reading Program at the library! The more you read, the more you grow.

By the end of 2nd grade students are expected to fluently read 102 words per minute on a 2nd grade level.

Please note: Students will be expected to take an AR test on the book they read once they return to school. Please consider their interests when selecting a book. If a student has already taken an AR test on one of these books, they should choose a different book to read. Students may wish to take notes as they are reading.
